To All Racers and Fans,
Due to alot of last minute changes and updates we have finally completed the racer packet for Sunny Isles Beach Florida race. There is some important information that you must know when you get to the race site. You must register with OPA registration in order to race anywhere in Sunny Isles Beach Florida. OPA is the main carrier of the insurance for all boating events this weekend. This means that you must sign a OPA release in order to be covered by insurance in case anything happens to you or your boat. If you do not sign the OPA release you WILL NOT BE COVERED. Anyone that was sent a brown envelope containing their 2011 OPA racing documents must have them filled out and signed. These are the envelopes that we mailed to you over the winter time. For those of you who did not receive the envelopes in the winter we can print it out in Florida for you. There will be a $50 registration charge for anyone that was mailed the packet in the winter and did not bring it down with them.
The OPTIMA batteries paperwork will only be available at OPA registration and will be filled out and signed by the boat owners there. You will be given a special band before you go get your batteries. Then Alan Petitt will sign your paperwork to authorize the release of the batteries to the the race team. You will be taking the copy of the signed battery paper to the OPTIMA rig in the dry pits. The OPTIMA people at the rig will cut off the band and take the signed paper from you and you will then be given your batteries. Bob Owen the OPA inspector will be examining your boat for the proper number of batteries and we will not tolerate any lying about how many batteries you use. The rig will only have 60 batteries so rest assured you will get them as long as you are paid up with OPA for the registration fees. We will ship out any other batteries to race boats that are not in Sunny Isles but are also paid up with OPA registration fees.
