OPA OPTIMA BATTERY PRESS RELEASE
Welcome to the 2011 OPA racing season. The final touches are complete and we have secured a TV deal for the 2011 racing season. Everyone that has pre-paid their 2011 registration fees and those that have paid their full registration fee in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida will be receiving their new Optima batteries. For those race boat owners that are not racing in Florida then you must send in your 2011 full registration fees before July 15th in order to get your Optima batteries shipped to you. After that date you will be responsible for buying the Optima batteries. Any race boat owner racing in OPA’s Florida race will need to have a signed copy of the Optima Battery form that Alan Petitt has signed in order to get the new batteries. The Optima Rig will only have 60 batteries on hand so do not worry if you paid and did not get one as they will be shipped to you after the race.

OPTIMA Batteries signs on as Official Battery Manufacturer of OPA
Everyone knows that the only battery capable of withstanding the abuse of Offshore Powerboat Racing is the Optima Blue Top marine battery. Seeing the perfect opportunity to showcase the toughness of their product, Optima Batteries (parent company – Johnson Controls) has teamed up with OPA for the 2011 season as the Official Battery of the OPA Racing Tour and a sponsor for the 2011 season.
The management of OPTIMA realizes that most of the OPA teams are already using their products, but as part of the sponsorship deal, every OPA team will receive one or two new batteries directly from OPTIMA via UPS. They want to make sure that when anyone looks in your engine compartment, they see OPTIMA products.
All teams that register with OPA for the 2011 racing season prior to May 1st, 2011 will receive FREE BATTERIES. If you run one battery, you’ll receive one free battery. If you run two batteries, you’ll receive two free batteries direct from Optima. If you register at the race sites, you won’t get free batteries, AND you’ll be required to have them onboard as per the updated rule book. We will inspect all boats to see that the correct number of batteries are present at each race site.
It gets even better, in addition to sponsoring OPA, Optima would like to sponsor a team for the 2011 season. Having their name on the side of a boat is the best way for them to get exposure on the TV show. We will raffle off the OPTIMA sponsorship at the Winter Awards Party on February 12th, 2011. A representative of OPTIMA will be in attendance and will be making a presentation at the meeting prior to the party.
Teams interested in entering the raffle to win the sponsorship will need to meet the following requirements.
1. You must race with OPA during the 2011 season.
2. You must attend the meeting prior to the party in order to register for this raffle.
3. You must have one person in attendance at the Awards Party.
4. You must be willing to put the OPTIMA name prominently on the side of your boat at your expense. This will become your new team name.
5. You must plan to attend at least five of the seven 2011 OPA Races.
The winner of the raffle will receive $5000 to go along with this sponsorship as well as a free 2011 OPA Registration and the free OPTIMA Blue Top battery(s). The winner will also be able to work closely with OPTIMA during the 2011 season and potentially grow the sponsorship for 2012 and beyond.
OPA is very excited about the opportunity to work with OPTIMA and help them to showcase their extreme duty batteries. OPA looks forward to developing a long and mutually rewarding relationship with OPTIMA and Johnson Controls.
