Freeport Offshore Grand Prix Postponed Due to Unavailability of Required USCG Support and Forecasted Weather Conditions
Freeport, NY – July 3, 2025 – After seven months of extensive planning and coordination, the organizers of the Freeport Offshore Grand Prix announce the postponement of the event, originally scheduled for July 11–13, 2025. This decision follows a careful evaluation of logistical requirements—chief among them, the availability of critical maritime support and coordination from the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG).
Throughout the planning process, the USCG has been a cooperative and highly engaged partner. However, due to current scheduling demands and resource constraints, the necessary operational assets for this year's race are not available. These resources play a central role in the overall execution and oversight of an offshore racing event of this scale.
In addition, forecasts for the event weekend indicate weather conditions that could further complicate planning and execution, as seen in the recent cancellation of other races such as Atlantic City’s “War at the Shore.” Taking all factors into account, we have made the responsible choice to postpone and refocus our efforts on rescheduling for a later date in 2025.
We are currently working closely with the USCG to identify and secure a new event window, and we anticipate sharing an updated schedule in the coming week.
We extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated staff, volunteers, sponsors, and local partners who have worked tirelessly in preparation for this event. Their ongoing commitment continues to fuel our mission to bring world-class offshore racing to Freeport. We remain excited and optimistic about what’s ahead, and look forward to delivering an unforgettable experience in 2025.
