OPA Announces Key Schedule Updates and Exciting Developments for 2025 Offshore Powerboat Racing Season

May 4, 2025 — The Offshore Powerboat Association (OPA) is proud to unveil major updates to its 2025 race schedule, including strategic date shifts and thrilling enhancements to key events that continue to elevate the offshore racing experience across the East Coast.

In a move to better accommodate the return of the Ocean City Grand Prix in Maryland, the Miami Offshore Grand Prix will now shift to November, with official dates set to be announced later this week. The highly anticipated Ocean City Grand Prix will take place in October, reclaiming its spot as a fan-favorite fall showdown.

The 2025 season kicks off in spectacular fashion with the Roar on the River in Highlands, NJ, scheduled for May 16–18, 2025. This charming riverside town is fast becoming a beloved staple on the OPA circuit. With deep community support and a passion for the sport, Highlands is now offering travel incentives to competing racers, further solidifying its reputation as one of the most welcoming stops on tour.

Next, the action heads south to Atlantic City, NJ, for the return of the War at the Shore, held June 6–8, 2025. This year brings a new look to the event, as The Ocean Casino Resort returns as the Title Sponsor, while North Beach Atlantic City joins in as the Presenting Sponsor. The event moves from its long-standing home at The Golden Nugget to a more prominent and spectator-friendly location on the Boardwalk at New Jersey Avenue, in partnership with Visit Atlantic City and the Atlantic City Sports Commission. Now in its second year back, the War at the Shore will offer prize money to OPA competitors, raising the stakes and drawing top talent from around the country.

The summer spotlight then shifts to Freeport, NY, where OPA will bring offshore powerboat racing back to Long Island on July 11–13, 2025. A village rich in offshore racing history and culture, Freeport is the perfect setting for the Freeport Offshore Grand Prix, and OPA is thrilled to reignite the sport's legacy on these iconic shores.

• September 19-21 – Lake Hopatcong, NJ – Lake Hopatcong Grand Prix

• November – Miami, FL – Miami Offshore Grand Prix (Dates TBA)
